CAMINCO Marine Cargo Insurance


  • Provides the insured with indemnity for loss of or damage to the goods during transit.
  • Includes cover for land tansit commencing from the moment the goods leave the place of storage until they arrive at the final warehouse.
Scope of Cover
  • Ther MAR form also contains one of the following International Cargo Clauses (ICC) which specifies the terms and conditions of a Marine Cargo Insurance policy:

Why you need for Marine Cargo Insurance
  • The movement of raw materials and manufactured goods between countries and the internal movement within the country itself involve credit and cash transaction worth millions of dollars.
  • Serious loss or damange to a cargo can create financial difficulties for the buyer, seller or any other party having an interest in the goods.
  • Such contingencies need to be protected against, via some form of transportation insurance, essentially Marine Cargo Insurance.
Underwriting Information
  • Background of the proposed insured (e.g. insured's company name and address, nature of business, its financial standing and reputation, and previous claims history).
  • Nature of the cargo (e.g. whether the cargo gives off or absorbs moisture, susceptibility of the cargo to damage due to rough handling, etc.).
  • Details of packaging (e.g. types of packing or packing material to be used, whether goods are crated or packed in cartons or containers).
  • Details of the carrying vessel (e.g. its structural form, type, ship's flag, size or tonnage of the vessel).
  • Voyage contemplated (e.g. length of voyage, weather conditions of the trading areas, ports of call and ports of discharge, whether any transshipments involved).
Claim Procedure
When the damage or loss discovered, the insured shall:

  • Minimise the loss and prevent further losses (make every effort to reduce the loss or take steps to prevent further loss).
  • Notify CAMINCO or nominated survey agent (notify CAMINCO or their nominated survey agent so that a survey of the damaged cargo can be arranged promptly).
  • File a claim against the carrier (file a claim in writing against the carrier as soon as the loss is known).
  • Whatever document was originally issued to substantiate the insurance placed, e.g. the original copy of policy or certificate of insurance.
  • Ocean (or air) Bill Of Lading, transshipment Bill Of Lading or railway freight note when applicable.
  • Original shipper's invoice
  • Packaging list, weight certificates or other evidence of the nature and conditions of the goods at the time of shipment.
  • Port Airport Authority's Cargo Irregularity Report or Inward Report.
  • Copy of the survey/ joint survey report and original photographs, where applicable
  • Repair/ reinstatement invoices
  • Original delivery note or other original document of receipt from the forwarder/ transporter.
  • Statement of claim to the carriers/ bailees and their replies.

CAMINCO Travel Accident Insurance


In reliance upon the statements make in the proposal for insurance and in consideration of the premium to be paid by the insured and subject to the coverage agreements, exclusions, general conditions and endorsements to this policy, the Company agrees with the insured as follows:

COVERAGE AGREEMENTS
This insurance covers loss arising from injury due to causes external to the person of the insured by accident giving rise to results as follows:
  1. Loss of life or Loss of Limbs and Sight
  2. If injury sustained by the insured causes loss of life or loss of limbs and sight within 180 days as from the date of accident or the injury sustained by the insured necessitates continuous treatment in a hospital or clinic and loss of limbs and sight occurs because of such injury, the Company will pay compensation as follows:
    1. Loss of life ................................................................................................................................... 100% of the sum insured
    2. Loss of both hands or both feet or sight of both eyes ................................... 100% of the sum insured
    3. Loss of one hand and one foot ...................................................................................... 100% of the sum insured
    4. Loss of one hand and sight of eye ............................................................................... 100% of the sum insured
    5. Loss of one hand or one foot and sight of one eye .......................................... 100% of the sum insured
    6. Loss of one hand or one foot or sight of one eye ............................................. 100% of the sum insured
    Loss of hand or foot means severance from the wrist or ankle joint or loss of use totally and permanently. Loss of night of eye means complete blindness, which is permanently incurable. The Company shall pay in respect of this part that item of loss with the greatest amount, one tem only.
  3. Medical Expenses
  4. If injury sustained by the insured shall require treatment by a legally licensed physician or surgeon or shall require treatment in a hospital or the employment of the licensed nurse, the Company will pay the expenses actually incurred by the insured 2 weeks from the date of accident for medical treatment, hospital charges and nursing charges but not exceeding the amount as stated in the schedule.
    EXCLUSIONS
    This insurance agreement shall not cover losses arising from or in consequence of causes or occurring during the time as follows.
    1. Hunting in forests, engaging in vehicle racing or boat racing of all kinds, engaging in horse racing, engaging in water skiing, engaging in skating of all kinds, parachute jumping, polo playing, engaging in professional boxing.

    2. Driving of riding as a passenger on the motorcycle.

    3. Whilst boarding or alighting from or travelling as a passenger in an aircraft not licensed or carriage of passenger.

    4. Actions of the insured whilst under the influence of alcohol of drugs of harmful nature to the extent of being incapable of controlling senses.

    5. Suicide or attempt at suicide or infliction of self in jury.

    6. Bacterial infections except gynogenic infections, which occur through an accidental cut or wound or tetanus or rabies.

    7. Medical or surgical treatment except such as way be necessary because of injury sustained which in covered by this policy and performed within the time provided in the policy.

    8. Aborting resulting from accident.

    9. Whilst engaging in brawl or taking part in inciting a brawl.

    10. Whilst in the course of committing a felony or whilst under arrest by authorities be cause of commission of a felony.

    11. Whilst performing duties as a member of the armed forces or police or as volunteer and engaged in war of crime suppression in such event if the insured has performed such duties continuously for more than 30 days, the Company shall return a prorate premium for the period of performance of such as duties.

    12. War (whether declared or otherwise), invasion, act of foreign enemies, civil war, revolution, insurrection, civil commotion assuming the proportion of or amounting to a popular rising.

    13. Nuclear weapons, radiation or radioactivity from any nuclear fuel arising from the combustion of nuclear fuel and self-sustaining process of nuclear fission.
    GENERAL CONDICTIONS
    1. Definitions In this policy and in endorsement to this policy:
    2. "Company" means the company issuing this policy. "Insured" means the person named as insured in policy. "Accident" means an event which happens suddenly and giving rise to result, which the insured did not intend and anticipate. "Schedule" means the schedule of this policy.
    3. Completeness of contract and change in policy
    4. This policy together with the coverage agreements and endorsements from the insurance contract. Any change of wording in the contract shall be approved by the Company and noted in the policy or in endorsements before such changes shall be valid.
    5. Report of accident
    6. possible to do so. The insured, the beneficiary or a representative of the said person, as the case may be, shall report injury to the Company without delay. In the event of death, report shall be made to the Company immediately unless it can be proven that circumstances necessary and reasonably make it impossible to report as required but report was given as soon as it was possible to do so.
    7. Proof of loss
    8. In claiming for compensation, the insured, the beneficiary or a representative of the said person, as the case may be, shall furnish evidence, as the Company require, to the Company at the expense of such person. furnish within 30 days as from the date of loss of life. In the event of claim for any other compensation, evidence shall be furnished within 2 weeks from the date of accident.
    9. Medical Examination
    10. The Company shall have the right to examine the person of the Insured while in the course of considering a claim as it may reasonable require and also to make an autopsy in the event of necessity.
    11. Payment of Compensation
    12. The Company shall pay compensation as specified in the Schedule promptly after receipt of complete and proper proof of loss.
    13. Condition Precedent
    14. The Company shall not be liable to pay compensation under this policy unless the Insured or the beneficiary shall have complied properly with the conditions of this policy.

Annual dividends left on deposit with the Company will accumulate with interest, with the option to become ready cash. These dividends are not guaranteed and will be declared annually by the Company.

The guaranteed cash value can be used to take up a policy loan with the Company when needs arise.

PROTECT YOUR EDUCATION FUND

The Payor Benefit under Manulife Education Protector provides added security to the education fund for your child. If something unexpected were to happen to you as the Payor of the premium (death or total disability)*, your future premiums will be waived. The policy will continue to be effective and the guaranteed education benefits, accumulated dividends with interest and other benefits will still be paid when due. Your children’s education therefore can still be funded. Knowing your child’s education fund is protected, you can enjoy peace of mind.

(*) The Payor Benefit is subject to definitions, terms and exclusions in the Policy Contract.

COMPREHENSIVE PROTECTION

In case of the insured’s untimely death, the beneficiary will get as death benefits** the face amount less guaranteed education benefits already paid out. In the event of an accidental death, an additional 100% of face amount** reduced by guaranteed education benefits already paid out will also be provided. The payouts will add any accumulated dividends less any outstanding premium and loan with interest

(**) The death benefit and accidental death benefit are subject to the terms and exclusions in the Policy Contract. For insured of age at last birthday of 1, 2 and 3, the death benefit and accidental death benefit payable are 40%, 60%, and 80% of the face amount respectively.
